Generation sequencing (NGS) or massively parallel sequencing refers to the new and exciting DNA sequencing technology which has revolutionized the field of Genomic Science. As opposed to Sanger sequencing that allows analysis of single sequence of interest at one point in time, NGS yields millions of sequenced DNA fragments in parallel enabling detection of full spectrum of genomic variation in a single experiment. Consequently the huge amount of genomic information generated with this technology has transformed the approach of the end users, whether medical doctors or research scientists.
